Direct medical degree
The Year 12 offer admits the student to the medical program itself.
Australia-wide medicine directory · reviewed 22 July 2026
Compare direct degrees, provisional offers, rural partnerships and structured internal routes without mistaking an ordinary biomedical degree for a reserved medicine place.
Read this first
The Year 12 offer admits the student to the medical program itself.
A medicine place is reserved, but bachelor completion, GPA or other progression conditions still apply.
The first degree creates a later selection opportunity. It is not automatically a medicine offer.
Old and new official pages conflict, or the next intake is not confirmed. Written verification is essential.
A minimum ATAR is not an offer cut-off. It may only make an applicant eligible to be ranked. UCAT, interview, rurality, subquota, applicant strength and available places can move the real competitive position each year.
Admissions language
5 current pathways · 1 route to verify
Direct and combined school-leaver options, plus several graduate-entry schools that need to be kept separate.
Current pathways and structured feeders

Direct integrated program. An optional Arts transfer after admission can add one or two years and is not a separate Year 12 medicine offer.
Places and competition
UNSW had not published one total 2027 quota on the pages reviewed. Gateway advertises about 20 offers; rural and bonded allocations operate separately.
Rural, Indigenous and other access
Rural Entry, Gateway and Indigenous Entry schemes apply. UCAT is not required for Indigenous Entry.
A joint five-year medical program with separate campus preferences and strong Greater Western Sydney, rural and Indigenous selection streams.
Published domestic minimums: 95.5 general, 93.5 Greater Western Sydney and 91.5 Rural Entry. WSU's international minimum is an ATAR-equivalent 93.5. These are eligibility thresholds, not offer cut-offs.
Domestic applicants sit the current-year UCAT ANZ; the competitive threshold is set from the cohort and is not pre-published. WSU international applicants use ISAT.
Online Multiple Mini Interview, scheduled for late November in the current cycle.
No specific school subject prerequisite is stated on the current admission pages. English proficiency and later clinical-placement compliance apply.

Medical Selection Assessment stations plus an online Personal Qualities Assessment. Domestic assessment is in person; international MSA is conducted by Zoom.
No school-subject prerequisites are published.
UAC 785000 plus the direct JMP application and campus preference. The direct JMP form closes 30 September 2026. UAC medicine preference timing differs for Indigenous and other applicants; verify the live UAC medicine timetable. The international direct deadline is 4 September.
Direct integrated five-year degree. Campus and rural streams affect delivery and selection rather than creating a later graduate application.
Places and competition
The current JMP application page publishes 170 places across Newcastle and UNE and more than 3,000 applicants each year. Miroma Bunbilla publishes up to 17 Indigenous places.
Rural, Indigenous and other access
Rural and Remote Admissions, Rural Bonus, Regional Excellence, Miroma Bunbilla Indigenous, equity and other regional pathways have distinct evidence and ranking rules.
A very small double-degree cohort selected on exceptional school results and an assessment day rather than UCAT.
ATAR 99.95 or published equivalent, including IB 45, is the standard threshold and does not guarantee selection. Access schemes have specific adjusted settings.
No UCAT, GAMSAT or ISAT for the double-degree application.
Assessment Day includes a group or panel discussion and a written assessment. Sydney and UAC currently describe the delivery mode inconsistently, so applicants should confirm whether their session is online or in person.
No school-subject prerequisite is published for admission. Some bachelor courses have assumed knowledge, including Biology in relevant science study.
UAC 513715 for Arts/MD and 513720 for Science/MD. Domestic assessment and offer rounds run in December and January after ATAR release. International applicants generally apply direct by 31 October, with UAC used for specified Australian Year 12 or IB circumstances.
Complete the bachelor in three years, complete the required foundations study and maintain annual average mark of at least 65 before commencing the MD. Approved honours can extend the bachelor to four years.
Places and competition
Approximately 30 domestic and 10 international places in total across both double degrees.
Rural, Indigenous and other access
Gadigal, MySydney and regional or remote settings apply under specific rules; ordinary EAS adjustment is not available to the double-degree medicine courses.
An international course package that can guarantee progression to Macquarie's MD when the offer and bachelor performance conditions are met.
Minimum ATAR-equivalent 95, with competitive capped selection. English requires IELTS 7.0 in every band or the published equivalent.
No UCAT or ISAT is published for selection to this specific international package.
Online four-station Multiple Mini Interview.
Mathematics and Chemistry are assumed knowledge; Macquarie recommends bridging study where needed.
Apply through Macquarie International Admissions. For the current 2027 cycle, applications opened 22 April and close 1 October 2026, with interviews from June to November.
Automatic MD progression requires an unconditional package offer, overall Bachelor of Clinical Science WAM at least 70 and professional-practice-unit WAM at least 70.
Places and competition
The package has a set quota, but Macquarie does not publish the number on the pathway page.
Rural, Indigenous and other access
Do not confuse the package with the domestic Bachelor of Clinical Science, which only provides later graduate-application advantages and no reserved MD place.

Places and competition
No confirmed 2027 commencing quota.
Rural, Indigenous and other access
Notre Dame's domestic Biomedical Science Priority Pathway is a later competitive MD application and the 2027 guide says it is under review; it is not an assured Year 12 medicine place.
1 current pathway
No current school-leaver medical degree. ANU Medicine is a graduate-entry program after a bachelor degree.
Current pathways and structured feeders
ANU Health Science students can compete for a defined pool of conditional medicine offers without GAMSAT after substantial ANU study.
Bachelor entry has a minimum selection rank 90 or IB 35 plus a compulsory supplementary form. Internal applicants need at least WAM 75 after the required ANU study to be ranked.

After at least 72 ANU units and while on track for 96 units plus required courses, ranking is 40% WAM, 40% interview and 20% written responses. A conditional offer still requires completion of the bachelor requirements.
Places and competition
Up to 40 domestic conditional MChD offers per year, with international and Indigenous candidates considered in addition.
Rural, Indigenous and other access
About 30% of the internal domestic pool is preferentially allocated to rural-background applicants; ANU also publishes Indigenous and bonded categories.

Check before applying: 2027 school-leaver conditions are pending. Do not rely on the old guarantee.
Included to stop families applying under obsolete assumptions. Melbourne's old school-leaver guarantee cannot yet be presented as a confirmed 2027 medicine pathway.
Under the pre-2027 rule, ATAR 99.00-99.85, bachelor WAM 75+ and a satisfactory MMI supported a guaranteed full-fee MD place. Chancellor's Scholarship rules are separate and the MD-specific 2027 conditions remain unpublished.
No GAMSAT under the historical guarantee. Do not assume that exemption for a 2027 starter until Melbourne publishes the new terms.
A satisfactory MMI is required under the historical guarantee.
Prerequisites depend on the chosen bachelor. The later MD has its own current eligibility and clinical requirements.
Year 12 applicants apply to the bachelor through VTAC; the later historical guaranteed-MD application was direct through Melbourne's course portal. Wait for the promised 2027 pathway update before relying on this sequence.
Historical rule: complete the eligible Melbourne bachelor immediately after Year 12 and maintain WAM 75+. New-starter conditions are not confirmed.
Places and competition
No confirmed 2027 commencing school-leaver guarantee quota.
Rural, Indigenous and other access
Chancellor's Scholarship and Indigenous thresholds are not automatically interchangeable with the yet-to-be-published 2027 MD guarantee conditions.

How completeness was checked
The Australian Medical Council accredited-school list was used as the completeness baseline, including graduate-entry institutions with no direct school-leaver offer.
Australian Medical Council list (opens in a new tab)CQU, UniSQ, UniSC, La Trobe and Federation are included where their first degree has a defined link to an accredited medical program.
The 2027 UCAT ANZ consortium list was cross-checked, while non-UCAT routes such as Bond, JCU and Sydney were verified on their own official pages.

Common parent questions
The direct-degree cards identify offers into medicine itself. Provisional, assured, internal and feeder cards begin with another degree and have separate progression or selection rules.
The Sydney double degree, JCU, Bond, selected internal or rural pathways and the new CDU program currently publish non-UCAT processes. Bond still uses a paid psychometric assessment. Always recheck the intended intake.
There is no national cut-off. Published minimums, adjusted selection ranks and actual offer ranks are different. Read the academic, test, interview and access-scheme sections together.
Usually not. A generic biomedical science degree is preparation, not a reserved medical place. Only rely on a guarantee when the official course names the progression conditions and applicant category.
