Seven university directions, each with a different entry strategy.
A degree title is only the starting point. The useful comparison is the complete route: subjects, selection method, professional recognition, course structure, application timing, cost and a backup the student would genuinely accept.

Selection rank is not raw ATAR
A selection rank can include course-specific adjustments. A published lowest rank is a historical indicator, not a promised future offer threshold.
Prerequisite is not assumed knowledge
A prerequisite is mandatory. Assumed knowledge describes expected preparation, while tests, interviews, portfolios or questionnaires may sit outside UAC.
Transfer is not guaranteed progression
A later transfer is usually a fresh competitive application. The entry decision, required university marks and credit assessment are separate questions.
Direct Year 12 entry
Apply using an ATAR or other Year 12 qualification, usually through UAC for participating NSW and ACT institutions.
Check prerequisites, selection rank, adjustment factors and any extra test, interview, portfolio or audition.Early, equity and adjustment pathways
Some institutions consider Year 11 results, school recommendations, educational disadvantage, location or subject performance.

About Nelson Zhou
Six years teaching students with different strengths, habits and goals.
Nelson adjusts his explanations, practice and pace to the student in front of him. He looks for the point where understanding breaks down, then checks whether the change is improving the student’s work.
His teaching is informed by first-hand academic and application experience. Nelson is a Sydney Grammar graduate and HSC All-Rounder with a maximum selection rank, a 99th-percentile UCAT and five medicine and dentistry offers. He is currently studying medicine through the JMP.
